5 reasons to get Chase's Ink Business Preferred Credit Card
Editor's Note
Whether you're looking for your first business credit card or your fifth, the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card (see rates and fees) is a great option.
The $95 annual fee is a bargain, especially when compared to the popular American Express® Business Gold Card, which costs $375 annually (see rates and fees), and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, which has an annual fee of $895 (see rates and fees).
Here are five reasons why the Ink Business Preferred might be worth adding to your wallet.
Impressive welcome bonus
With the Ink Business Preferred, you'll earn 100,000 bonus points after spending $8,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.
Chase Ultimate Rewards points are among the most valuable transferable points around. In fact, the bonus is worth $2,050, according to TPG's February 2026 valuations.
While $8,000 is certainly a lot to spend as an individual, many small businesses can easily hit that bonus. At the end of the day, you know your spending patterns better than anyone and can assess whether the spending requirement for this welcome bonus is achievable.

Those 100,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be used for amazing redemptions. For example, you could transfer points to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club to book yourself round-trip flights to Europe in Delta One business-class suites.

Useful bonus categories for small businesses
Thanks to the card's bonus categories, Chase Ultimate Rewards points are easy to accumulate.
You'll earn 3 points per dollar spent on the first $150,000 in combined purchases you make each account anniversary year in the following categories:
- Travel
- Shipping purchases
- Internet, cable and phone services
- Advertising purchases with search engines and social media sites
All other purchases earn 1 point per dollar spent.
If you maximize your bonus spending, you'll earn 450,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points annually, worth $9,225, according to TPG's valuations. This is an incredible value, especially for a card with only a $95 annual fee.

Amazing redemption potential
One of the most valuable aspects of the Ink Business Preferred is that you can transfer your points to any of Chase's 13 airline and hotel partners. Points transfer to all partners at a 1:1 ratio, and most transactions are instant.
When you take alliance partners into account, you get an especially wide range of airline options. When you transfer your points to British Airways Club, for example, you'll have access to flights from Oneworld alliance members like American Airlines, Finnair and Japan Airlines.

Here at TPG, we love transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points to World of Hyatt. It's very easy to maximize the value you get out of your points this way, since Hyatt currently doesn't use a dynamic pricing system for award nights.
Depending on the specific redemption, you can also redeem your points for up to 1.75 cents each (or up to 2 cents apiece if you also have the Chase Sapphire Reserve® (see rates and fees) and combine your points with that account) through the new Points Boost feature in Chase Travel℠.
Plus, you'll accrue frequent flyer miles on any flight bookings made through Chase Travel since they're treated like any other paid ticket.
Cellphone, travel and purchase protections
Insurance isn't a glamorous topic, but saving money is — and the Ink Business Preferred can save you some serious cash in this area.
For instance, it covers you and your employees if your cellphone is lost or damaged. Each person is covered for up to $1,000 in theft or damage per claim, provided you pay your phone bill with that card.
There's a limit of $3,000 in claims per 12-month period (up to three claims per year), with a $100 deductible per claim.

The Ink Business Preferred also offers a host of travel benefits for the road warrior:
- Primary car rental insurance
- Trip delay and cancellation insurance
- Lost luggage reimbursement
- Baggage delay insurance
- Travel accident insurance
- Purchase protection
While you hope to never need any of the insurance benefits that come with your card, knowing you're covered offers peace of mind and can save you money by letting you skip purchasing additional insurance or purchase protection.

Pool your points with other Chase credit cards
Chase has several products that are essentially cash-back cards:
- Chase Freedom Unlimited® (see rates and fees)
- Chase Freedom Flex® (see rates and fees)
- Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card (see rates and fees)
- Ink Business Cash® Credit Card (see rates and fees)

However, the rewards from those cards can be converted into transferable points, provided you have the right card. The Ink Business Preferred Credit Card is one of the cards that gives you this ability.

Additional benefits
Along with the perks outlined above, the Ink Business Preferred offers other important benefits:
- Employee cards at no extra cost
- No foreign transaction fees for purchases made outside the U.S.
- Zero liability protection (so you won't be held responsible for unauthorized charges)
- Fraud protection with real-time account monitoring
- Extended warranty protection (adds a year on eligible U.S. manufacturers' warranties of three years or less)
Bottom line
For a small-business card, the Ink Business Preferred Credit Card offers an almost unbeatable combination: a strong welcome bonus, generous opportunities to earn points, the ability to transfer points to 13 travel partners and a comprehensive collection of travel protections.
If you're considering the Ink Business Preferred, remember that it falls under Chase's 5/24 rule. That means if you've opened five or more credit card accounts in the past two years, you'll probably be declined regardless of your creditworthiness. To increase your odds of acceptance, try to apply for this card (and other Chase credit cards) before cards from other issuers.
